Legislation that’s been endorsed by the Missouri Senate would add certainty to the chain of command if embattled Governor Eric Greitens ends up leaving office.
The upper chamber passed a bill Friday that calls on the governor to appoint a lieutenant governor if the seat is vacant. Currently, there is no line of succession to become lieutenant governor. Under the Constitution, the governor fills vacancies in public office through appointment.
